Paigham e Karbala Conference (Zarf e Nigha English Version)

Paigham e Karbala Conference :

Strengthens Unity and Promotes Peace.

(Peshawar - 16 July 2023)

Under the joint efforts of the Imamia Council for the Unity of the Muslims (Rejection of Sectarianism) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Qoumi Aman Jirga, a significant event called the "Paigham e Karbala Conference" took place in Peshawar on Saturday night. The conference aimed to foster unity and harmony among Muslims, with a specific focus on the importance of prayer and early prayer as the core message of Karbala.

The effort saw the presence of esteemed individuals, including Director General of Iranian Culture Centre in Peshawar Mr. Asghar Khosrow'abadi, who emphasized the significance of prayer and its place in both ceremonies and daily life. Iqbal Haidari, Chairman of the Qoumi Aman Jirga, highlighted significant events in Muharram ul Harram and other Islamic months, underlining their importance in Islamic history.

Hajjat-ul-Islam wa Muslimeen Khatib Allama Syed Zafar Naqvi emphasized the responsibility of mosques and pulpits in accurately representing the true essence of Muharram. Allama Abid Hussain Shakri, the Principal of Madrasa Arif Hussain Al-Hussaini Shaheed, shed light on the unwavering commitment of Imam Al-Maqam, emphasizing the visible and hidden aspects of martyrdom.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of numerous custodians of Imam Bargahs, Taiziadars, founders of Majlis, Salars of Matami Sangats, and their representatives from Peshawar District. Notably, this unique event successfully brought together Shia and Sunni Muslims under one roof, promoting unity, understanding, and brotherhood.

Speakers at the conference highlighted commonalities, values, tolerance, and brotherhood, with a particular focus on strengthening the bonds of Islamic brotherhood through a deeper understanding of Karbala. By emphasizing shared aspects rather than differences, the aim was to thwart the ambitions of those who perpetuate sectarian tensions and conspiracies against Islam.

The choice of venue, the "Waheed Banquet (Wedding) Hall near Yakatoot Gate," instead of a mosque or an Imambargah, was a symbolic representation of inclusivity. It signified the unity of purpose and the participation of a predominantly youthful audience. However, it is regrettable that decision-makers from the provincial and district governments, district administration, and law enforcement agencies did not participated in the event. Their involvement could have led to better peace and order arrangements, eliminating the need for separate meetings with different sects every year and dispelling the notion of religious monopoly over Muharram.

Worth knowing that in anticipation of upcoming Muharram-e-Haram, extensive security measures have been put in place, with the Provincial Department of Home Affairs designating 4,500 locations in 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as highly sensitive. As necessary, mobile phone services may be temporarily suspended in certain areas of the said districts. However, it is crucial to recognize that terrorists can target any location, not just those designated as sensitive. Therefore, comprehensive security measures are essential.

The representative body "Qoumi Muharram Committee (QMC)" has expressed some concerns over unjust restrictions imposed on Imambargahs and interference in mourning rituals. Such actions infringe upon constitutional and human rights, contradicting decisions made at higher levels. It is imperative for the police to implement security arrangements seriously, taking into account the suggestions and concerns of all stakeholders, to ensure peace and order prevail. Overall, the Paigham e Karbala Conference served as an important platform for promoting unity, harmony, and mutual understanding among Muslims. It aimed to alleviate sectarian tensions and create an atmosphere of cooperation and respect. By fostering a deeper understanding of Karbala and embracing shared values, not only Muharram but also the remaining eleven months can be characterized by peace and order.

Ends.
